Burger Shack is a legend among burger establishments. This is the place that my grandparents took me each Friday night for burgers, fries, and onion rings many years ago. Today, the interior is still the same, the menu board still looks the same, the fold-down seats are still the same, the joy of tasting their authentic burgers is still the same. It is a treat to watch the open flame-broiler unleash the sight of fire with the sound of sizzling grilled meat. The burgers (and steak on a kaiser) taste like real grilled meat because that's what they are (and not some microwaved imitation), and the chicken souvlaki is always tender and juicy.
The onion rings deserve particular mention - I have found these to be the best onion rings anywhere. They are thick and plump, moderately crispy on the outside and doughy on the inside. Add a little bit of gravy, and it doesn't get much better than that. Over the years, things come and go, but Burger Shack has remained the same - uncompromised, unpretentious, real.
